Armani Makeup Artist Linda Cantello on Refillable Makeup and a More Sustainable Future

“I’ve always been very vocal about how much I hate powder makeup,” says Linda Cantello, international makeup artist for Armani Beauty. “I’ve always felt that the skin always looks really good until you put powder on,” she laughs. “And then you look 20 years older and you have that mask-y effect.” Known for her ability to create looks that feature glowing, lit-from-within skin, she was skeptical when she was first introduced to Armani Beauty’s Luminous Silk Glow Fusion Powder. But thanks to a presentation from Armani’s lab team highlighting the product’s groundbreaking technology, Cantello was sold.

“They demonstrated how a traditional powder mixed with water got really clumpy, like mud,” she says. “But when Glow Fusion Powder was mixed with water, it became this beautiful smooth liquid.” The powder, which is essentially a dehydrated version of the brand’s bestselling Luminous Silk foundation, uses water memory technology, allowing it to blend … Read the rest

10 Things French Girls Always Wear With Red Dresses

It’s no secret that we here at Who What Wear are obsessed with French style—French women make everything look effortlessly chic. They never look like they’re trying too hard, accessorize just the right amount, and somehow always have that enviable “I woke up like this” thing going on. So needless to say, I turn to French girls for inspiration when thinking about spring outfit ideas.

A red dress is as classic as it gets for spring, as it’s the ideal pop of color you’re craving once the weather starts to shift and flowers are blooming around you. Most of us have at least one red dress in our closet, so I figured it’s worth taking a look at how French women style theirs to inspire some new outfit combos with a piece we may already own. From sneakers to sun hats to shoulder bags, French girls pair a few key … Read the rest

Inspo Alert! Why We Love the Wild Style of Nick Haramis & Misha Kahn

Brooklyn-based power couple Nick Haramis, a Canadian whose current gig is editor-in-chief of Interview Magazine, and Misha Kahn, a multimedia artist who hails from Minnesota, have received much media attention for their eccentrically decorated apartment. Yet their decadent wardrobe choices also beg for a space in the spotlight thanks to an eclectic closet teeming with pleasingly tactile pieces and scads of items by designer Thom Browne.

PHOTOGRAPHY BY ARKAN ZAKHAROV. “The more familiar I became with Thom’s work, the more I imagined an idealized version of myself in the clothes,” says Haramis.

My Friends Trust Me for Style Advice—I'm Into These 34 Chic Items Now

As a fashion editor, I’ve found that my friends routinely use me as a trusted source for sartorial guidance. Basically, I’m often one of the first people they text when they’re on the fence about a particular item or want help identifying the latest trend to try.

One of my very good friends recently asked me for advice on some of the best oversize blazers because she wanted to add some relaxed tailoring into her wardrobe. I sent over three options (including this $75 Nordstrom pick). I also sent her a few other spring items I’m loving that I knew she’d be into. I thought you might be interested in some of said pieces, so I’m sharing the items below (the first four on the list). I also scrolled through some of my favorite sites to uncover a smattering of other chic items that piqued my interest.

Canadian Gossip Girl Star Jordan Alexander Is Something to Talk About

Jordan Alexander has some very big — and fashion-forward — shoes to fill as part of the Gossip Girl reboot coming to HBO Max this year. But she has done her best to turn any jitters into an advantage. “I always try to channel any intimidation I might feel into an energy that empowers me rather than makes me cower,” says the Vancouver-born, Toronto-raised talent over the phone as a siren wails faintly outside the window of her New York apartment. She moved to the Big Apple when shooting for the show began last year, although she says she hasn’t been able to fully explore it due to the pandemic.

I Haven't Worn a Bra in Years—Here's What I Wear Instead

When I turned 13 (and finally started to go through puberty), all I wanted was to start wearing a bra. By the time I was 14, all I wanted was to stop wearing a bra. I had quickly learned what most of us already know—that bras are typically uncomfortable, rigid, and cut into your under-boob area. The most relieving part of my day was when I finally got home and could peel off my bra. So I soon decided to stop wearing bras altogether.

That brought challenges, however, as I wasn’t yet entirely comfortable with the idea of going braless. So I decided to dip my toes in the water by rotating through several bra alternatives—all of which were certainly more comfortable than my go-to underwire bra. If you, too, want to forgo bras without totally abandoning the support and shape they offer, keep scrolling to find some excellent … Read the rest
