I Haven't Worn a Bra in Years—Here's What I Wear Instead

When I turned 13 (and finally started to go through puberty), all I wanted was to start wearing a bra. By the time I was 14, all I wanted was to stop wearing a bra. I had quickly learned what most of us already know—that bras are typically uncomfortable, rigid, and cut into your under-boob area. The most relieving part of my day was when I finally got home and could peel off my bra. So I soon decided to stop wearing bras altogether.

That brought challenges, however, as I wasn’t yet entirely comfortable with the idea of going braless. So I decided to dip my toes in the water by rotating through several bra alternatives—all of which were certainly more comfortable than my go-to underwire bra. If you, too, want to forgo bras without totally abandoning the support and shape they offer, keep scrolling to find some excellent … Read the rest

11 Iconic 2000s Hairstyles That Could Still Fly in 2021

The 2000s are back, baby. As you may recall, it was an era defined by low-rise pants, fuzzy pink everything, and AOL instant messenger. (Do you remember your first screen name or are you normal?) Some of the most iconic and still-talked-about fashion moments of all time happened during this period and we’re still feeling the reverb to this day. Another area of excellence from the 2000s that still informs our lives? The hairstyles.

From chunky highlights to braided antennas and, of course, spiky buns galore, the go-to hairstyles from this time were truly something special. And the queens of the cool girls like Hilary Duff, Raven-Symoné, the Olsen twins, and Jennifer Lopez (yes, she’s been killing it for decades!) were serving up daily inspiration for executing all the crimps, curls, and colors.

If you’re feeling nostalgic, keep scrolling for 11 2000s hairstyles we would low-key wear today, along with … Read the rest

18 Face Masks to Wear This Spring and Summer

It may be 2021 but with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it’s crucial to continue wearing face coverings when we leave the house. Now that the weather is finally warming up and we enter our second spring in the COVID era, black and grey masks are feeling increasingly monotonous. Luckily, fashion designers have drawn inspiration from brighter, sunnier days to bring us summer face masks that are nearly impossible to feel grumpy in. Tanya Taylor’s offerings have transformative powers, with prints and colours that scream Palm Springs and just dare you to have a bad day while wearing them. Fellow Canadian label ai Toronto Seoul, on the other hand, took a more practical point of view, using a quick-absorbing and fast-drying Aersosilver antibacterial yarn — which is ideal for those sporty spices breaking a sweat outside while masked up.

With the pandemic continuing to keep us on our toes, we’ve rounded … Read the rest

Wait, This Tank Top Is $14 But Looks Super Expensive

Our editor in chief, Kat Collings, recently shared with us a special gem she is wearing on repeat at the moment. Naturally, we wanted to highlight the staple for you as well. The piece in question? This $14 ribbed tank from Amazon.

The Kamissy piece looks quite expensive (honestly, could be designer) because of the modern, higher cut and the ribbed fabric. The color is also noteworthy in the of-the-moment beige hue. The beauty of this trendy basic is that it’s highly versatile and could act as a base layer for a range of ensembles this spring and summer. In fact, Collings actually sent over a few photos showcasing how she’s styling her favorite tank.

Intrigued? Wonderful. Keep scrolling to learn more about why this expensive-looking tank is top-notch. If you go a bit farther, you’ll also find more affordable tank tops (under $30) that could also be of interest. … Read the rest

Meet the Founder of Non, the Denim-Centric Label That’s “Conscious by Design”

Like many of us over the past year, Pete Hellyer — founder of Non, a denim-centric label based in London — has been searching for meaning. With 15 years of experience in the e-commerce and digital realms of the fashion industry, he found his client-based work was becoming more sporadic as the pandemic’s hold intensified. “I had a lot of free time, and there was a lot of uncertainty,” says Hellyer, who had worked as creative director for businesses including Ssense and The Outnet before going freelance.

To bring a little cheer into his life, Hellyer — who, again like many of us, found himself primarily wearing loungewear throughout lockdown — decided to treat himself to a pair of jeans. “I live in denim,” he notes of his typical attire. “I’m one of those people with a uniform [of] a white tee and jeans.”

Finding a pair with satisfying style, … Read the rest

This Risqué New Trend Is Unpractical (No Underwear, No Bra), But I Still Love It

Any trend that shows a little skin is one thing, but tacking on the fact that in order to make this trend really work one has to forfeit all undergarments? Yeah, it’s a lot to process, but after scrolling through the images and products below, I am confident you’ll be turned. This risqué detail we’re highlighting today looks like cascading keyholes that are held together by the skin of their teeth. Beneath them? Nothing, of course, hence the necessary removal of all undergarments beforehand. Be it a button closure or a dainty thread, the main objective is to give off the look that your garment is busting at the seams, and considering the fact that you’ll likely not be wearing a bra or underwear should this happen, the look is quite jarring (in a good way).

That’s half the fun of this trend though, isn’t it? These peephole-like cutouts create … Read the rest

Princess Diana’s Iconic Short Hairstyle Was a Spontaneous Decision

Princess Diana graced us with many iconic looks, but perhaps none more lasting than the trademark short hairstyle she sported during the final years of her life. It turns out, the signature look was the result of an impulsive haircut.

In a new video for British Vogue, legendary Scottish hairstylist Sam McKnight opened up about his relationship with the late royal and how that iconic look came to be. The pair met for the first time on a shoot for British Vogue, during which they had a “really lovely day.” While playing around with her hair, McKnight recalls making it look short under the tiara she was wearing. “I faked it a bit,” he says.

But Princess Diana surprised McKnight — who has also worked with the likes of Lady Gaga and Kate Moss — at the end of the shoot when she asked him what he would … Read the rest

The Best-Selling Revlon Nail Colors Might Surprise You

Revlon has been a makeup institution for decades. Since 1932 to be exact. Chances are you’ve probably used one or two (or more ) of the brand’s products, and you might even have some in your makeup bag right now. I’m pretty sure one of my first lipsticks was a classic Revlon tube. I distinctly remember feeling very grown-up using the black and gold tube. Or maybe you have one of the brand’s hair tools. If you haven’t heard of the cult-favorite hair dryer brush, you should look into it. According to some of our editors, it’s a life-changing styling tool.

Another thing that the brand does well is its nail polish selection. In fact, it was the first to introduce the idea of matching your nail color and lipstick, who knew?! The color range is extensive and the formulas are long-lasting. Not to mention they’re at a good price … Read the rest
